Morganstone held an over-subscribed Meet the Buyer event at Swansea’s Village Hotel in April. The event was designed to engage sub-contractors and suppliers within the Swansea Bay Region to deliver Morganstone’s programme of new build homes, schools, care homes and public buildings in Wales over the coming years. The event was attended by over 50 contractors and suppliers from the local region.

Youngsters from Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe were rewarded for their artistic skills when leading Welsh construction specialists, Morganstone, along with housing developer, Pennant Homes, announced the winners of a poster competition to highlight the importance of construction site safety.

The awards recognise and reward the extraordinary commitment that Scheme-registered sites have made to improve the image of the industry; with sites having demonstrated the very highest standards of consideration towards the public, environment and their workforce.

Children at Cardiff’s St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School learned about the potential dangers in and around building sites when we gave them a presentation on the subject. We went along to St Cuthberts, in Letton Road, with a representative from our Schooner Way development partners, Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA). We are happy to carry out a number of these important visits to schools near our active construction sites throughout the year.

Students at Pontypridd High School heard about the breadth of career opportunities in construction when we led some hands-on workshops. With recent projections* forecasting more than 19,000 new construction jobs for Wales, we are keen to inspire young people to consider careers within the construction industry – and this visit was part of our ongoing World of Work programme.

We are building the nearby Coed-y-Lan development for well-respected Rhondda Housing Association who are providing 18 new affordable homes on the site of the former Coed-y-Lan Lower Comprehensive School in Lanpark Road.

With recent projections* predicting more than 19,000 new construction jobs for Wales, we have illustrated some of the benefits of a career in the industry to a group of ambitious students. Morganstone invited students from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, (UWTSD) along for some tours of one of our live sites, the Quayside development in Swansea’s Langdon Road, SAI.

Children from Danygraig Primary School learned about the importance of staying safe around building sites, when we visited them during school assembly, along with new homes developer Pennant Homes and housing association Coastal Housing Group. Construction is underway at the nearby Quayside development, in Swansea’s SA1, as part of Morganstone’s ongoing partnership with their partners, Coastal Housing Group and Pennant Homes.

This recognition comes hot-on-the-heels of our success at the West Wales Business Awards in January, where we were named Business Of The Year 2017 as well as winning the Construction category at that event.
